I said I'd never do this, which just goes to show what a pushover I am -- it's all Jess's fault for ignoring my rants about LJs and sending me an invitation to join and then ducking for cover. Sigh. Seemed stupid and pigheaded to refuse to be dragged (even if with some proforma kicking and screaming) into the modern era. Everyone I know seems to be here already (no, I'm not a trend-setter -- what was your first clue? ), and I do like to hang out with my friends. So, for better or worse, here I am.

Starwatcher said you were here, and since I love your fiction (which she also recommended to me), I've taken the liberty of friending you so that I won't miss anything new you might write and post. No need to friend back--I virtually never post, because I got a LJ mainly to be able to comment. I've gone more than a year without icons, myself, but I'm just starting to dip my toe into that pond; I'm getting some advice from LJ friends, and if I figure it out and can try to emulate starwatcher's fine intro to LJ guide, I'll pass it on to you. If you will indeed be posting mainly or lots of fiction, you might want to explore the LJ FAQs about how to add those entries to your "Memories" to make them easy for you and others to find; you can also use "Memories" to keep things like starwatcher's LJ guide easy to find, without having to bookmark it on your computer.

Cinder, I really appreciate your note and look forward to whatever lessons learned or guidance you can share as you also become more comfortable with the LJ possibilities! And, hey, thanks for saying how much you enjoy the stories I write. It's always great to hear from a satisfied reader, and you're a stranger no longer (the benefits of the LJ environment)! I think, for now at least, with the exception maybe of fast challenges or Sentinel Thursday sorts of things, I'll probably just post links in my journal for the stories going up on my regular websites.
