I said I'd never do this, which just goes to show what a pushover I am -- it's all Jess's fault for ignoring my rants about LJs and sending me an invitation to join and then ducking for cover. Sigh. Seemed stupid and pigheaded to refuse to be dragged (even if with some proforma kicking and screaming) into the modern era. Everyone I know seems to be here already (no, I'm not a trend-setter -- what was your first clue? ), and I do like to hang out with my friends. So, for better or worse, here I am.

Jess, too late, lol. I took a breath and told starwatcher -- just sent the message off to her. Can't believe I'm doing this. I checked out my friends list (using the referrals you gave me for ts talk, etc,) and I'm already feeling overwhelmed! Maybe it won't seem so ... massive once I've got my writing commitments done and don't feel quite so pressed for time. I can see this is a good community, though, to get info on latest stories, etc. Thanks for the invite (I think, lol).

Well don't. Remember this is 'your' journal. You can write and much or as little as you want and you shouldn't feel under any pressure to update. Just take your time and surf around for a while first. And also remember that you can friend whoever you want. Just because a person 'friends' you, doesn't mean you have to reciprocate.

Well, it's not the updating that's leaving me feeling, um, incompetant? Probably too strong a word for the first hour or so. Maybe just incapable. Like, how does one get icons and start using them? And how does one friend someone? And is it hard to upload or post story docs? Don't feel you have to reply. These are just some of the things I'm uncertain about right now.

As for icons, I think this tells you how upload them (if not just give me a yell) TS icons is a great place to find Sentinel icons or you can google up 'lj icons' and you'll get stacks of pages to look through.

(I don't have the exact name for TS icons -- I'll go find out for you)

Jess, great link! Trust StarWatcher to have everything summarized in a easy to follow user guide! So, I've just friended some folks (you, StarWatcher, Aly, Rhianne). Great to know how to do it! I think I'll leave the mysteries of icons until tomorrow *g*.

Thanks again, Jess. The 'world' looks a lot more appealing from inside and sure seems to have more vitality than any list I've ever been on. Once I've caught up on all my story commitments, I can see I'll have fun exploring.
