LMFA Nominations

I received my nominations a few days ago and had the delightful, but also difficult task of paring down to the ten allowed on the ballot. I'm so grateful to everyone who liked my stuff well enough to remember it and to take the time to nominate it! What About Now, the SG-22 series and the On Ice series, and It's About Friendship received various nominations on the gen side, and Half Heaven, Half Heartbreak, Love's Forbearance, and The Silent Key received noms on the slash side. The nominations mean as much to me as actually winning an award, because the noms let me know that people are enjoying the stories, and that's what matters most to me. Given the extraordinary talent in this fandom, and the rich variety of stories that I saw nominated on the initial lists, it's a privilege to be counted in such company. I was really delighted to also receive a nomination for Outstanding Slash Author. LOL, given the terrific slash authors in this fandom, I certainly don't expect to win such an honour, but it's so neat to just be on the ballot!

Thank you, everyone who nominated me, thank you so much for this acknowledgement and encouragement. Means the world to me.

And a huge THANK YOU (with a wild round of applause) to everyone on the LMFA Committee. I know you all put in countless hours and a good deal of effort to facilitate this process each year to encourage authors, artists and website hosts, and to give us such a wonderful repository of story recs and links. Not to mention the links to stunning artwork, songvids, and archive and resource sites. You guys ROCK!

(BTW, The Silent Key is one of my favorite fics, though I'm ashamed to say I may never have given you feedback for it. I'm appallingly terrbile about that.)

The hardest thing is voting; as you say, we have so many excellent writers in this fandom. But you're right, it's such an honor just to have the nominations, which were selected from so many available stories.

I need to make a post about mine; One Bright Summer got *five* noms, which I had to pare down to three, but I'm so tickled that people enjoy kid-Jim-and-Blair. And All that Glitters was nommed for original character; I called Cindy right away. She was so thrilled, since those original characters are more or less us.

Oh, okay ... I've known others over the years who have chosen not to participate for various reasons, and I respect your decision.
