Has anyone seen it? Could you let me know if there's a happy ending ie both horse and boy get home alive? Thanks.

Haven't seen it yet but I did read the wikipedia writeup (because I don't think I could see it if either didn't make it) and while both horse and boy go through hell before hand it does seem like the horse and boy survive to go home.

Much much angst ahead of time though. So it might be a bittersweet ending? I don't know. I'm still on the fence.

Thanks for the info. I kept searching too and Roger Ebert's review would indicate that it's a pretty happy ending; he indicates that it was necessary to make all the angst and horror of war worth enduring for the viewer.

In bare bones - yes they get home. The horror of war is explored. I don't want to spoil anything else but to answer your most pressing question. I saw it yesterday.

Thanks! I'm hoping to go see it tomorrow, now that I know it's 'safe', or as safe as grim war stories can be.

There is great sorrow and grief, but not the ultimate in either. And it is beautifully shot!

Hey, thanks for the reassurance.

I went to see it today. Yes, beautifully shot, and acted. One of those rare films when I forgot I was watching a movie, just got caught into the story. Very intense and impactful. Everyone was brilliant in their roles and the horses were magnificent.
