My car

Those of you who have read either my Moonridge Report for this year (see StarWatcher's LJ) or Lisa Adolph's will know that my seventeen-year-old car broke down on the mountain road about nine miles from Big Bear, or fifteen from the hotel. This after having managed a fast journey of long, long driving days up mountain and down into the desert, through a record-breaking heat wave. The poor old thing got REALLY tired in the oven-like heat on those last steep grades, lol.

Well, add to this that my new province of residence requires cars to pass an emissions test to manage air quality. As you can imagine, I really wasn't sure how my old girl would do. At the testing site, they have owners wait in a little cement cubicle that's decorated with a poster about how to dispose of your vehicle. Eek! The thing is, they will not register or insure cars that don't pass the test. So I waited nervously, watching through the window, wondering how much it was going to cost to get it fixed when it didn't pass. As you can see, I was not at all hopeful, lol.

Well, the good news is, she passed with flying colours!!! Did so well, rating so far below even average ratings that the technician commented on the excellent results. So, I'm now registered and insured for another year, when we go through all this again.

Good car! Very, very good car!!

Congratulations! They certainly didn't go out of their way to present a positive atmosphere, did they? I know how you feel as my first car was like that. I held my breath at every emissions test. Even with my newer car I get stressed at emissions test time. LOL!

Congrats sweetie. I know that feeling all too well from some of my past cars. What a horrible environment to provide for you to wait. I think maybe I'd try another place next year and see if it's any better. *hugs*

Oh, and welcome to LJ...I knew when you sat in that hotel room and said you'd not do that that sooner or later we'd wear you down. *grins*

Susan, unfortunately, there is only one Air Care centre here, so I'll have to see that poster again next year . Ah, well, I'll be retiring, maybe, by then and plan to keep my severence pay handy just in case the day comes with this old car just won't go no more, lol!

As for joining LJ, I'm enjoying it. But I still think it's the transition to LJ that's made lists far less interesting places to be. However, things change and I eventually came to realize that resistance is futile ! Thanks for the welcome!
