I'm passing this on for Aly.

::Please pass this on to all interested parties::

IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ!

Due to the small number of donations for our 10th Anniversary Online "Auction for Moonridge in Garett's Name", the Moonies and I have talked over several options. One option was to move the auction later in September; one option was to cancel everything but the Animal Adoption, and another option, based on the fourteen (14) wonderful fans who have donated items, was to run an abbreviated version alongside the Animal Adoptions.

The decision has been made. We will begin the Animal Adoptions on September 7th and, at the same time, you'll be able to 'bid', 'donate' or 'grant a wish' for however many items we finally end up with by the 7th. All fourteen donators agreed to keep their items available for THIS year.

On Saturday, August 31st, all animals and donated items will be available to view at the GMFOR_MOONRIDGE site (link to be provided soon) and, one week later, the Benefit will begin.

I realize that many fans may be a bit saddened that we've had no news on the fate of the Zoo, let alone any Sentinel Day - but allow me to reassure you - this is NOT the fault of the Zoo or Garett. They're undergoing many changes, still in flux while waiting for word on when they can break ground (I know, it's been YEARS - but this is a HUGE project, fellow fans, and the delays are natural), and all this while still running the Zoo, raising funds for both NOW and the future, and rescuing animals. In addition, they've suffered several animal losses, which is always difficult.

But please continue to believe in the Zoo (whether you continue to call it the Moonridge Animal Park or by its new name; The Big Bear Alpine Zoo), in Garett's commitment, and the Zoo's absolute LOVE and GRATITUDE for the Sentinel Fans!

The Welcome Page at the GMFOR_MOONRIDGE has been updated, so please check it out here:

Thank YOU!

Hey, after posting Aly's note about this year's auction, I feel compelled to offer an update on where I am with the story I still owe to many very generous donors from last year. As some of you know, one story was finished and was sent to the donors, but hasn't yet been posted; I've not finished updating the gen and slash versions following StarWatcher's excellent and extremely thorough beta. It will take time to do the edits and I've not been able to focus on that work until I fulfil my commitment for the second story.

The good news is, I'm up to page 50 on this second story, entitled 'Minstrel Boy'. I think it's about two thirds done at this point so there's hope that it might actually be finished before this next auction is finished. I'll do my best to get it out by mid September, if not sooner.

Much as I'd like to offer a story in the coming auction, particularly the fourth and final installment in Bitterwood Creek, I no longer have confidence in being able to 'write to order'. The muse has proven to be too unreliable, I'm sorry to say, and has been increasingly recalcitrant over the past few years.

I'm very grateful to all of you -- you know who you are! -- for your patience.

::Please pass this message on::

Next Saturday, August 17th, the official site will be up and running - BUT - it will be at a DIFFERENT site so:
PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD.

The new site is the GMFOR_MOONRIDGE live journal site. Now don't be frightened by that - remember, you do NOT need to be a member of LJ to read any posts or even make comments, all right?

GMFOR_MOONRIDGE will have newly designed pages that will look very similar to what you're used to seeing at the website (which will be back next year!). You'll still be able to see all the items donated (with any accompanying photos), as well as the animals up for adoption this year. There will be no changes to HOW you view items, only the URL will have changed.

Unfortunately, at this point, meaning less than a month from the start of our annual Moonridge Auction (Read: Big Bear Alpine Zoo Online Fandom Benefit *G*). the number of donations is too low. Far too low.

I hope this doesn't mean we've hit the wall with our auction? Is TEN years too much? Do we still LOVE our show and the guys - not to mention Garett and the Zoo? Do fans believe Garett isn't still interested?

I can't answer most of the questions above, although I pray the answers are "NO, we haven't hit the wall" and "YES, we still love our show, the guys, Garett and the Zoo!". *G* As to the last question, well, if you believe Garett isn't interested any longer, I can say with great confidence that you're WRONG.

Garett will be joining some Senfen in the UK this Fall, for another fantastic GMOH con - and YES, he's still very committed to the Zoo and to attending the next Sentinel Day (which will be summer of 2014) and to the Grand Opening for the Zoo (whenever that happens). And yes, he cares how well we do with our auction too!

So that just leaves us - the FANS. Are we still committed? Can we make it through another fun Auction? I say YES.

And even as I say YES, I know our authors are leery to promise stories again, as so many of us (yeah, I'm one of them) still owe from previous years. So what's the answer? Easy: Let's take the load off of them, give them a break this year (well, except for those who have stories ready and waiting *BG*) by putting our imaginations to work.

Let's come up with MORE of the other types of items to donate! Like, hello? This fandom has the most INCREDIBLE artists, both those who work in oil, acrylics, charcoal, etc, and those who use programs like Photoshop to create great manipulations, artwork, etc. Spread the word to them, ask YOUR favorite artist if she has one work she could offer, just ONE. Maybe a piece to fit your favorite TS fan fic? Or ANY favorite fan fic? Or maybe a mood theme series for your LJ? Or icons to go with a favorite episode - or maybe one icon for each episode of your favorite show (make it easy on them - like ONE season *G*)?

Get those wheels turning, folks - there's so much talent out there, and that means it's time to start 'nudging' and, okay, NAGGING! We have creative people - fans who make tons of fandom-related items, so start ASKING, and remember, ALL fandoms are welcome. And of course, items don't even need to be fandom-related.

And to our brilliant, creative fans - I know you can come up with SOMETHING to offer. Check your fandom room (what, you don't have one? *wink*), your 'stash', and think of the ANIMALS. Animals that NEED you and your donated items.

And yes, think of ME. PLEASE. The longer you wait to donate, the harder my job becomes as I try to get things ready. I'm not getting any younger, you know! *BG*

Please don't let our tenth anniversary mean the end. I KNOW this fandom is alive and well so let's prove it to the world and for The Big Bear Alpine Zoo, or as we will always lovingly call it: Moonridge Animal Park. And let's prove it to Garett too.

PS: The FAQ telling you how to donate items is here:

And for those who are leery of a 'tiny url', here's the preview URL: http://preview.tinyurl.com/mhzydyx

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE!
JUNE 1ST, 2013

THE ANIMAL ADOPTION PLUS A SPECIAL ADAPTATION OF THE BIG BEAR ALPINE ONLINE AUCTION (FORMERLY THE MOONRIDGE AUCTION) IS STILL TAKING PLACE BUT AM WAITING ON THE INFORMATION FROM THE ZOO REGARDING THE ANIMALS UP FOR ADOPTION THIS YEAR - AS WELL AS - INFORMATION ON WHETHER THE SAN BERNARDINO BOARD OF SUPERVISORS HAVE APPROVED THE MOVE (and groundbreaking, and if so, the date for the groundbreaking ceremony).

As soon as I have the animal info, I'll announce the new DATE for the Animal Adoptions and ONLINE FUNDRAISING EVENT. At that time, a new ADOPTION PAGE & NEW FAQ will be activated. The FAQ will be CRITICAL, as many policies regarding the annual event have CHANGED!

HANG IN THERE, GUYS! IT IS COMING!

SPREAD THE WORD, PLEASE!

So here is the deal: You get to ask me three questions. No matter how disgusting, awful, dirty, rude, crazy or random they are! I promise I will answer them 100% truthfully!

Help! I have no idea why or how, but the font on my gmail and every other firefox page has shrunk to the point where I need a magnifying glass. HOW DO I FIX THIS?

Thanks.

Posting the latest information provided by Alyjude:

::Feel free to pass this on to any and all groups, journals, blogs, etc::

Dear TS fans,

The first BIG BEAR ALPINE ZOO (formerly Moonridge Animal Park) Online Auction UPDATE is HERE!

Yep, fellow senfen, it's that time of year again; the time when minds run to thoughts of our annual online Auction!

Except...

This year will be a different. As you read this, the Board of Supervisors are perusing the paperwork on building the new zoo and when they've approved it, the date for a planned groundbreaking ceremony will be set. What does that mean for us?

Simple: It means that for now, we'll run ONLY the Animal Adoptions - beginning May 25th and ending June 1st - *but* when the zoo gives me the ceremony date, we'll run the regular auction (minus the Animal Adoption) so for the ceremony, the zoo will have all the raised monies for announcement! Simple, eh?

So mark May 25th on your calendar and as soon as I have the animals that are up for adoption this year, I'll post them at the GMFOR_MOONRIDGE (http://gmfor-moonridge.livejournal.com/) site for your consideration and decision making (oh, dear, I want to adopt them all!). We won't use the website until auction time.

In addition, the new FAQ at the above site will be up in a few days as well - and yes, you'll need to READ it - as in actually READ it - because there WILL be new information and MAJOR changes in how both the Adoptions and auction will be handled.

And for an extra bit of good news: The zoo is planning to resurrect Sentinel Day in 2014!! That will also be our LAST regular auction. The final auction will be the BIG ONE (in 2015); the one where we present the zoo with our largest contribution ever, just in time for the Grand Opening - and before you ask: YES, Garett has committed to Sentinel Day and the Grand Opening. Not sure about the Groundbreaking Ceremony at this point - since the date is up in the air (tentatively scheduled for Fall).

If you have any questions, EMAIL ME AT: alysideburns@gmail.com

DO NOT HIT REPLY!!!

Thank you

Has anyone else who has seen the new truck commercial, with the guy saying he bought his new F-150 for the cost of one hamburger a day, wondered how much angst Jim would feel at the idea of giving up Wonderburger in order to buy his beloved truck?

and one more to go! Oh, my, how I long for the days when stories seemed to write themselves. This one has been over a year in the making! I'm so glad to have finally been able to send both gen and slash versions off to the very patient and generous donors. My gratitude also goes to Helvetica, for her gorgeous artwork, to Janet, for allowing me to use a piece Helvetica did for her, and to Alyjude, for the beautiful, evocative cover art.

I dearly hope the recipients will enjoy the story, all 120 pages of it! ::grins;: In a month or so, I'll see if I can figure out how to upload it to AO3, and remember how to post to Rhianne's hidden-muse site. And I'll send the gen version to Starfox, for her Mansion.

I sure hope the next story will take a lot less time!

Hey, Deb Warner has asked for help in spreading the word that the cast and crew of DemonSpawn are all ready to start moving forward on the webseries but some modest funding is needed to get underway. She sent the message below with the link to a teaser for the series and to provide information on donating to their project. She's also asked that everyone possible spread the word to at least check out the site below because visits are counted and if they get enough hits, they'll move up to the top of what folks see when they go to check out what's new in the land of vampires and stories about them. So, even if you can't donate, please check out the site and pass the word along. Thanks.

Deb wrote:

I'm not sure if you saw the posts, but the campaign is live. I am getting inquiries from our leads about how it's going already. I'm concerned that very few people have seen the trailer and it's some very good work from Garett and Owen. The trailer is on the campaign page http://igg.me/p/282567/x/126025. Please, spread the word.

Thanks!

Deb Warner just provided us with the link to her blog to access two webcast interviews, one she conducts with Garett and Owen and one that Garett conducts with her and her husband, Jon Cunningham, re: their ongoing work on this much anticipated webseries:

Here's the direct link to the page. They can be downloaded from the site.

Deb writes: Garett surprised us with some of his views on Joe. I think they will come as a shock to some of the long time fans of the film.

Garett has provided a short audio file to his website at garettmaggartonline.com regarding his work on the webseries sequel to Demon Under Glass. He hopes to have a video file to share with us soon, giving more information about his role and where the series is going. You can hear his message by going to the website and checking under 'What's New' on the homepage. We've also linked to the Oreo commercial he did a while back, thanks to other fans who found the link and shared it with all of us.

The US election tomorrow will decide the fate of more than the US in terms of economy and international affairs. In many respects, the rest of us, especially those of us here in Canada, are hostage to a process we cannot influence because when the US economy tanks, so does ours. So, on the off-chance my views will influence still undecided voters or even Republicans who are heartily sick of being dictated to by the very far right Tea Party, here's how I see it:

I think it would be utterly ridiculous to choose Romney over Obama. The Republican policies CAUSED the problems we're barely crawling out of economically and Romney wants to reinstitute them, including deregulating the banking industry which terrifies me. Romney has no clue about international affairs and in terms of taxes, he clearly cares only about the rich. He did NOT deliver on his promises of jobs or lowering taxes, etc when Governor of Mass., he backs idiots who deny evolution, climate change and think rape is somehow in God's plan, and he's reversed his position/lied too many times to count -- not to mention that he'll cut programs which support middle class and the poor, sick, unemployed etc etc in favour of supporting his rich cronies.

Obama, on the other hand, has made great progress in turning the economy around after the worst economic crash since the Great Depression. He has created a ton of jobs, saved the auto industry, saved a lot of people from losing their homes, has a solid plan for medicare, has introduced health care policies that will actually benefit people and protect them from ruthless insurance companies only interested in profit. Plus, Obama is extremely effective and respected internationally and, oh, yeah, he also ended Bin Laden's reign of terror.

How ANYONE could vote for Romney is a total mystery to me. How women could vote Republican this year in particular, given their evident contempt for women's rights, is totally beyond my understanding.

Today, I was driving through Arkansas, heading west, and I saw more streams of hydro vehicles going east. Don't know where they were coming from, somewhere a good deal west and south of where the devastation occurred, but distance seems to be no barrier in times of crisis. Just read that California is airlifting hydro equipment to the east coast to help restore power as quickly as possible. It's humbling and reassuring to see a nation come together when help is so desperately needed. If only this very divided land could work together as well on the less concrete challenges and issues threatening its future.
